Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs blev grundlagt i 1955 af Albert Einstein og Bertrand Russell.

Organisationen har siden arbejdet for en verden fri for kernevåben, og modtog i 1995 Nobels Fredspris for sit arbejde.
